Popup Message Box Widget
If you are looking for a way to add more
interactivity to your projects without a lot of extra work, the Popup
Message Box Widget may be just what you need. And...it not only works in Native
ToolBook but it also is fully functional when exported to the web :-)
See the Popup Message Box in action
- This demonstrates just a few of ways that you can use the Popup Message
Box Widget.
What is the Popup Message Box Widget?
A good way to think about the
Popup Message Box Widget is as an attractive message box. The Popup
Message Box object can be sized to fit your needs and you can allow users
to move it around the screen, even in DHTML. So,
whenever you want to provide your users with more detail or information
about something, you have a perfect application for Popup Message Box.

Don't like the way the PopUp
Message Box looks? Don't like the default blue or
green border, white
background and MS Sans Serif font in the Popup Message Box Widget? Now you can easily
customize Popup Message Box to fit with your interface. You can
change the background color, the font type, size, and color and even the
boarder! So, if you want a green border with a pick highlight and a
brown shadow (yuk!) you can have it :-) The following screen will
show how easy it it to customize your own Popup
Message Box using the Popup Message Box Marker.

If you are already a PopText Customer,
you already know how simple the Nirvana Bound tools are to work with. Why Do I Need the
Popup Message Box Widget?
Here are some ideas for how you
could use Popup Message Box:
Display the feedback for standard ToolBook questions in an
attractive message box.
Add an attractive border to enhance and bring attention to simple images.

Further explain something on
the page - For example, with a computer simulation, you might want
to provide a more detailed description of the steps or elements on the screen.
You will conserve precious screen real-estate
and provide a more realistic simulation.
Give depth to your
presentation by adding additional content that gets displayed when the
user wants, needs, is ready to see it.
The possibilities are
endless... How Does the Popup Message Box Widget Work During
Development?
The Popup Message Box Widget is easy to use during development.
Just drag it onto your page from the catalog. The extended
properties will allow you to easily customize the look and functionality
of your Popup Message Box. You can have Popup Message Box on every page of your project
if you want. You decide if it is always visible on the page or if your user
has to click a button to display the Popup Message Box. You can even allow
the user to move the box in DHTML or you can make it stationary.

Give it a try before you buy:
Click on the following links to open the Popup Message Box builder.
Note that this is run through Neuron and as such is runtime. Most of the
controls do not work in runtime mode so they have been disabled, however
you may copy the sample Popup Message Box and test it:-)
ToolBook version 8.0 - Popup Message Box builder
ToolBook version 8.5 - Popup Message Box builder
Please note: Sometimes when you run a ToolBook
program via Neuron and you also have an instance of ToolBook open in
developer mode, you may experience problems (ToolBook may crash). I
suggest that you close any open ToolBook programs before you try the above
links.
Who Developed the Popup Message Box Widget?
I am the creator of
the Popup Message Box Widget. While I have used similar functionality in various
projects I have worked on over the years, I was unable to get this type of
tool to work when exported to the web. However, with the addition of
the Action Methods, I was able to make this work for Native and DHTML
projects.
